Maintenance Chart

The following maintenance intervals apply to normal operating conditions only.
If your daily working time is longer than normal or operating conditions are
difficult (very dusty work area etc.), shorten the specified intervals accordingly.
Complete machine
Control handle
Air filter
Filter in fuel tank
Fuel tank
Carburetor
Spark plug
Cooling air intakes
Valve clearance
Combustion chamber
Spark arresting screen in muffler
All accessible screws and nuts (not
adjusting screws)
Anti-vibration elements
(rubber buffers, springs)
Blower air intake screen
Throttle cable
Discharge wire (machines with non-
adjustable blowing attachment)
Safety labels

STIHL recommends that this work
be done by a STIHL servicing dealer
BR 500, BR 550, BR 600
Visual inspection (conditon, leaks)
Clean
Check operation
Replace
1)
Have checked by dealer
1)
Have filter replaced by dealer
Clean
Check idle setting
Readjust idle
Readjust electrode gap
Replace after 100 hours of operation
Clean
Check, adjust if necessary, after 139
hours of operation
Decoke after 139 hours of operation,
then every 150 hours
Check
Clean or replace
Tighten
Visual inspection

Have replaced by dealer
Check
Clean
Adjust
Check
Replace
