Indicators and input devices

Status indicator panel

Symbols in this panel provide information on the status of the power, disks and keyboard lock
features. The meaning of the symbols are as follows:
Power-on indicator
Your notebook is ready for operation when this symbol appears. The power-on
indicator is shown when the notebook is supplied with power and flashes when it is in
Standby mode. The indicator goes out when the notebook switches into Save to Disk
mode or when it is switched off.
Power indicator
The power adapter is supplying power to the notebook.
Battery being charged
The arrow symbol appears when the main and additional battery (if installed) are
charging. The indicator flashes when the battery is too hot or too cold to charge.
First battery indicator
The main battery charge state is indicated in the status indicator panel.
Second battery indicator
The additional battery charge state is indicated in the status indicator panel.
CD/DVD indicator
The CD/DVD in the optical drive is being accessed.
You must not remove the CD/DVD from the drive when this symbol is shown.
Hard disk indicator
The hard disk drive is being accessed.
Floppy disk drive indicator
The floppy disk in the floppy disk drive is being accessed.
You must not remove the floppy disk from the floppy disk drive when this indicator is
shown.
PC card indicators

This indicator appears when a PC card is accessed.
Num Lock indicator
The [Num]
[Num] key has been pressed. The numbers on the lower right on keys in the
[Num]
[Num]
integrated numeric keypad are enabled.

Caps Lock indicator
The Caps Lock key has been pressed. All the characters you type appear in
uppercase. In the case of overlay keys, the character printed on the upper left of the
A
key appears when that key is pressed.
