Installing a drive in bay A, B, C, or D

Notes:
1. The server's electromagnetic interference (EMI) integrity and cooling are both
protected by having bays A through D covered or occupied. When you install a
drive, save the filler panel from the bay, in case you later remove the drive and do
not replace it with another.
2. Refer to the User's Reference on the IBM Netfinity Documentation CD for detailed
instructions on installing these drives.
3. The illustrations in this document might differ slightly from your hardware.
To install a drive in a removable-media bay:
Attention: When you handle Electrostatic Discharge-Sensitive devices (ESD), take
precautions to avoid damage from static electricity. For details on handling these
devices, refer to the following Web site and use a search term of ESD:

1. Turn off the server and peripheral devices.
2. Remove the side cover.
3. Choose the bay (A through D) in which you want to install the drive.
4. Remove the bay filler panel.
5. Remove the EMC shield from the bay.
6. Set any switches or jumpers on the drive.
7. Install the drive in the bay.
