Procedure for tilting down (power
trim and tilt models)
1.
Push the power trim and tilt switch "
(up) until the outboard motor is support-
ed by the tilt rod and the tilt support knob
becomes free.
2.
Pull out the tilt support knob.
3.
Push the power trim and tilt switch "
(down) to lower the outboard motor to
the desired position.

tilt models)
1.
Slightly tilt the outboard motor up.
2.
If equipped with a tilt support bar: Slight-
ly tilt up the engine until the tilt support
bar is automatically released.

If equipped with a tilt support knob: Pull
it out, then slowly tilt the engine down.

Cruising in shallow water

The outboard motor can be tilted up partially
to allow operation in shallow water.

Place the gear shift in neutral before us-

ing the shallow water cruising system.
Run the boat at the lowest possible

speed when using the shallow water
cruising system. The tilt lock mecha-
nism does not work while the shallow
water cruising system is being used.
Hitting an underwater obstacle could
cause the outboard motor to lift out of

the water, resulting in loss of control.
Do not rotate the outboard motor 180°

and operate the boat in reverse. Place
the gear shift in reverse to operate the
boat in reverse.
Use extra care when operating in re-

verse. Too much reverse thrust can
cause the outboard motor to lift out of
the water, increasing the chance of ac-
cident and personal injury.
Return the outboard motor to its normal
G
