7.3. Valve Clearance Adjustment
Valve clearance adjustment
is carried out on cold
engine and both the
inlet and
exhaust valve clearances
are adjusted to
0.1 mm. The valve
clearance is measured by a feeler gauge between the valve and the valve
rocker
roller
ter
the cover
of the
valve rocker
compartment was
removed. Valve
earance adjustment is
carri
out, with the piston of
the corresponding
cylinder in its
top dead centre
of the compression
stroke, or according to the valve overlap, as
lows:
- Start with the
cylinder No. 1 (valve overlap
cylinder NO.4) and
then proceed
in accordance with
the firing
each time turning
the crankshaft
by 180 deg. in
the sence of
rotation, i.e. cylinder
NO.3
(NO. 2 cylinder
valve overlap),
then
inder
NO.4
(No. 1
cylinder valve
overlap) and finally
cylinder No. 2
(No.3 cylinder
valve overlap) .
The
feeler
gauge

Basic advanced ignition timing carry out after adjusting breaker
contact gap within 0.30 - 0.40 mm by Scintilla magneto or 0.25 - 0.35 mm
by LUN 2225 magneto to the following values:
- left-hand magneto 5 deg. before top dead centre
- right-hand magneto 10 deg. before top dead centre
.
Breaker contact surfaces
should be clean, free of
damage and
at the instant of closing.

crankshaft (in detail se 12.2.). Correct position is at the moment when
the contacts break up.
Accurate ignition timing adjustment:' is accomplished during engine test
run so that
switching any of the two ignition
