Synchronizing Players

Normally, synchronizing players should be a painless operation. There are three ways
to sync players:
1.
(AUTOMATIC) When starting a new player, X-Agora verifies automat-
ically if project files are up-to-date. If project files are not up-to-date,
the user is asked if he wants to sync the files.
2.
(MANUAL) In player properties, there is a Sync tab in which there is
a Synchronize Scene button.
3.
(MANUAL) In Outputs layout, just above the players map, there is a
Sync All Players button that synchronizes all the connected players to
the latest version of the project.
The Sync section of the Properties pane of a player indicates the sync status of that
player.
In the event that players are not syncing, consider that either the machines do not see
each other or that neither machine can access the network share of the other.
Machines do not see each other
1.
Open CMD.exe on the server machine and type: ping serverHost-
name.
2.
Open CMD.exe on the player machine and type: ping playerHost-
name.
3.
If either of the machines returns a message of type Ping request could
not find host test, they do not see each other. Please check the name
and try again.
In this case, there is a networking issue; make sure that the two machines are on the
same local network.
Machines cannot access each other's network share
If the two machines see each other, but they still cannot sync, it is possible that they
have a network share issue. By default, all Barco Media Servers are pre-configured to
connect to other Barco Media Servers correctly, so this problem should not happen unless
the share permissions or user account settings were modified manually. To verify:
1.
Open Windows Explorer on the server machine.
2.
In the address bar, type \\playerHostname\xms-medias\scenes.

a.
A pop-up window with the message "Remote share
connection successful," means that the share is con-
figured correctly.
b.
If Windows asks for authentication, it means that the
share is not configured correctly.
