When cookinga food for the firsttimein your
newoven,use timegivenon recipeas a guide.
Oventhermostats, over a periodof years,may
"drift" from the factorysettingand differences
in timingbetween an old and a new ovenof 5
to 10 minutesare not unusual. Y ournew oven
hasbeensetcorrectlyat thefactoryandismore
apt to be accuratethan the oven whichit re-
placed.However, i f youfindthatyourfoodscon-
sistently browntoo littleor too much,you may
make a simpleadjustmentin the thermostat
(OvenTemp) knob.
PULL KNOB OFF OF SHAFT. LOOK AT
BACK OF KNOB AND NOTE CURRENT
SETTING, BEFORE MAKING ANY AD-
JUSTMENT. To increaseoven temperature,
adjusttowardHI or RAISE; to decreasetem-
peratureadjusttowardLO or LOWER. Each
notch changesoven temperature10 degrees.
Oventemperature c an be raisedby 20 degrees
or loweredby 30 degrees.
See sketches below.One of the two type knobs
shownwill be on your range.To adjust,follow
directions underthe applicable sketch.
1. Removeknob,and hold so pointeris at top
of knob.Usinga pot holderor similarmaterial,
hold "skirt"of knobfirmlyin one hand.Grasp
handleof knobin otherhand.Note positionof
pointerandturnhandleto movepointertoward
Raiseor Lower.Pointeris designed not to move
easily.If it is seatedso it is difiicultto move,
pointermay be loosenedslightiy.Inserta thin
screwdriver, k nife blade or sirnikm instrument
andlift up endof pointerslightly.
2.Afteradjustment i smade,presspointer firmly
againstknob.Return knob to range,matching
flatarea on knoband shaft.Recheckovenper-
formancebefore makingan additionaladjust-
ment.

SLIT FOILTO CONFORMWITH SLITSIN
RACK. Broiler rack is designedto minimize
smokingand spattering, and to keepdrippings
cool during broiling. Stoppingfat and meat
juicesfromdraining to thebroilerpanprevents
rackfromserving itspurpose, a ndmaylet juices
becomehot enoughto catchfire.
2.DO NOT placea sheetof aluminum foilon
shelf of either conventionalor microwave
oven. To do so may result in improperly
cookedfoods,damageto ov~nfinish, a nd in-
crease in heat on outside surfacesof the
range.
