Troubleshooting
Minor Problems
Workstation doesn't
automatically display the
date and time.
Workstation does not
beep during the power-on
self-test (POST).
System will not boot.
Workstation reset
automatically.

RTC (real-time clock) battery
may need to be replaced.
Battery life is approximately
5 years.
Speaker cable is not properly
attached
Headphones plugged in
Expansion board assembly, a
board, or a processor may
not be seated properly.
The unit temperature was
exceeded. The fan may be
blocked.
Possible Cause
Possible Solution
Replace the RTC battery.
Refer to Appendix E,
"Installing a New Battery,"
for installation instructions,
or contact your Compaq
authorized reseller or
service provider for RTC
battery replacement.
Ensure that speaker cable
is connected.
Unplug headphones
Ensure boards are
properly seated on the
system board. Ensure
expansion board
assembly and processor
are properly installed in
unit.
1. Unit is in an exceedingly
hot environment. Let it cool
down.
2. Be sure internal cables
are not blocking the air
intake of the power supply.
3. Contact your Compaq
authorized reseller or
service provider.
