Observe Safety Guidelines detailed in the beginning of this manual.
PROBLEMS
(SYMPTOMS)
No welding output in any mode.
The auxiliary output is normal.
The engine operates normally.
If for any reason you do not understand the test procedures or are unable to perform the tests/repairs safely,
contact the Lincoln Electric Service Department for technical troubleshooting assistance before you proceed.

TROUBLESHOOTING & REPAIR
POSSIBLE AREAS OF
MISADJUSTMENT(S)
OUTPUT PROBLEMS
Place the Welding Terminals
switch in the "WELD TERMINALS
ON" If the problem is solved and
there is a control cab.e, wire feed-
er, amptrol, or arc start switch con-
nected, the fault may lie in the
above attached accessories.
If the correct OCV is present at the
weld output terminals, check the
welding cables, connectors, work
clamp, electrode holder, etc. For
loose or faulty connections.
CAUTION
VANTAGE® 400
RECOMMENDED
COURSE OF ACTION
Check for damaged conductors or
faulty connections on the heavy
current carrying leads that connect
the output studs to the Chopper
module and to the Output Rectifier.
Also check the shunt and the
choke assemblies for damage and
faulty connections.
Check the Welding Terminals
Switch and the associated leads.
See Wiring Diagram.
Check gate leads #23 nd #25 and
Weld Control Board power leads
#13 and #14 for loose or faulty
connections. See Wiring
Diagram.
Perform the Chopper Module
Function Test.
Perform the STATOR VOLTAGE
TEST.
Perform the OUTPUT RECTIFIER
TEST.
The WELD CONTROL board may
be faulty.
