STARTING THE
ENGINE
Before
attempting
to start the engine make
sure:
• The transmission is
in
neutral.
• The fuel valve lever is
in
the "ON" posi ­
tion
.
• The engine stop switch is in the
"
0
"
position
.
NOTE: This motorcycle is
equipped with
interlock
switches
for the ignition
circuit and
the
starter circuit.
The engine
can
only be
started if:
• The transmission
is in
neutral
and the
clutch is
disengaged,
or
• The transmission
is
in
gear,
the
side
stand
is
fully up
and
the
clutch
is disen­
gaged.
When the Engine Is Cold:
1. Turn the
choke
lever
clockwise
. Close
the
thorottle
completely.
2.
Squeeze the clutch lever and push th
electric
starter
button.
3.
Immediately after the
engine
starts,
I
keep the engine speed at 1050 rlmin by
varying the
choke
knob position
.
4.
Move the
choke
lever to the
"OFF"
pos
iton
approximately
30 seconds
afte
engine starts. It may be necessary
to'
use the
choke
longer than 30
second
in
extremely
cold
weather.
When the Engine Is Warm:
Use
