How to Double Your Pleasure - with
Pontine Approved Accessories
The
accessories and
optional
equipment available
for installation on
your new Pontiac
are built specifically
for Pontiac to Pontiac Engi-
neers'
specifications. Some accessories,
or options, require little or no
maintenance or regulation; while others give
you
their best perform-
ance and ultimate
pleasure when you
fully understand the
working
principles behind
each
one.
EVER-LEVEL air ride-In the Ever-Level air ride system, four air
springs replace the conventional
steel
coil or leaf springs. The
system
is completely
self-adjusting
for normal driving
and
requires no regula-
tion by the
driver.
Under certain circumstances
such
as
driving
over
steep ramps, curbs
or
other obstacles, and
when jacking-up (see page 22
for
jacking
instructions)
or
towing the
car (see page
16
or
18
for
respective instruc-
tions
on towing
Hydra-Matic and Synchro-Mesh cars), it is desirable
to have
additional road
clearance. Therefore, a feature .has been
incorporated in the
.Ever-Level air
ride
system 'Which
permits the
driver to
raise
the car
approximately
three inches
above
normal driving
height.
Raising the body can be
accomplished
by pulling out the "CAR
LIFT
"
knob located
on
the lower
edge
of the instru!fient panel.
The
body is lowered by pushing the knob in.
NOTE: The
enaine
should .be runnina when raisina the car to insure suffi-
cient air to raise it, but does not have to be .runnina to maintain the car
at the raised position for a reasonable amount of time.
If,
after standing
for a period of time, the body of
your
car is found
to be lower than normal, it can be restored to its original height by
starting the
engine:
If this condition persists consult
your
Pontiac
dealer.
POWER BRAKES-The 1958 Pontiac Power Brake has been Im-
proved mechanically.
'
The new pedal has almost fourteen
'square
inches of surface for ease
of
application.
Through the use
of
both atmospheric pressure
and
vacuum,
Pontiac Power Brakes
affo"
rd the finest braking with a mini-
mum of
effort.
