Chapter 8 Sync with Host Computer

Introduction

To communicate with a host computer, the host computer requires a synchronization program. After synchronizing
the VC70 with a host computer, changes made on the VC70 or host computer appear in both places.
To communicate with a host computer running Windows XP, install Microsoft ActiveSync (version 4.5 or higher).
To communicate with a host computer running Windows 7, install Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC version
6.1 or higher).
Using a synchronization software:
Allows working with VC70-compatible host applications on the host computer. The synchronization software
replicates data from the VC70 so the host application can view, enter, and modify data on the VC70.
Synchronizes files between the VC70 and host computer, converting the files to the correct format.
Backs up the data stored on the VC70. Synchronization is a one-step procedure that ensures the data is
always safe and up-to-date.
Copies (rather than synchronizes) files between the VC70 and host computer.
Controls when synchronization occurs by selecting a synchronization mode, e.g., set to synchronize
continually while the VC70 is connected to the host computer, or set to only synchronize on command.
Selects the types of information to synchronize and controls how much data is synchronized.
