Driving and Operating
Caution
Cranking the engine for long
periods of time, by returning the
ignition to the START position
immediately after cranking has
ended, can overheat and damage
the cranking motor, and drain the
battery. Wait at least 15 seconds
between each try, to let the
cranking motor cool down.
Stopping the Engine
Move the gear lever to R (Reverse)
and set the handbrake after you turn
off the engine by pressing and
holding the ENGINE START/STOP
button.
If the RKE transmitter is not
detected inside the vehicle when it
is turned to off, the DIC displays a
message.

page 5-36.

Retained Accessory

Power (RAP)

These vehicle accessories can be
used for up to 10 minutes after the
engine is turned off:
Audio System
Power Windows
These features continue to work up
to 10 minutes after the engine is
turned off or until either door is
opened. If a door is opened, the
power windows and audio system
will shut off.

Parking

Before exiting the vehicle, move the
gear lever into 1 (First) or
R (Reverse), and apply the
handbrake. Once the gear lever has
been placed into 1 (First) or
R (Reverse) with the clutch pedal
pressed in, turn the ignition off and
release the clutch.

Parking over Things

That Burn

Warning
Things that can burn could touch
hot exhaust parts under the
vehicle and ignite. Do not park
over papers, leaves, dry grass,
or other things that can burn.
