APPENDIX B. FAQ

Q:
How can I connect to the MAX-IP-Cam from a remote location?
A:
You will need to set the security settings in Internet Explorer following the instructions
starting on page 10 of this manual. You will also need to know the IP address of the
Internet connection the Max-IP-Cam is using. You can discover this easily by opening
Internet Explorer on a computer using the same connection as the Max-IP-Cam and
entering this address: http://www.whatismyip.com. The page at this address will show
you the current Internet IP address assigned to your Broadband modem or router. This
will be different to the IP address of the individual devices on your network such as PC's,
routers and the Max-IP-Cam. If your ISP has not assigned you a permanent or static IP
address, the IP address of your Internet connection will change each time your
Broadband modem logs in. This process is called assigning a Dynamic IP address. If your
ISP provides a dynamic IP address, you will need to set up a Dynamic DNS address as
described on page 28 of this manual. This will allow you to create a Virtual DNS host
you will then enter in Internet Explorer to be automatically redirected to the IP address
of your Broadband Internet connection.
Q:
Why is the time that is displayed on the image incorrect?
A:
Make sure the NTP (Network Time Protocol) settings are correct, especially with regard
to the gateway connecting properly to the Internet. Also, make sure the NTP Server you
have entered are set up correctly. The system should calibrate itself when first
connecting to the NTP on start-up and then calibrate afterward once every hour.
Q:
Why can't I update my IP Address?
A:
Make sure there are no other devices with the same IP Address as the MAX-IP-Cam. If
they are the same, try to connect the MAX-IP-Cam only to your computer to make sure
there is no interference from other devices. You may then need to change your IP
Address.
Q:
Why can the IP Search Tool detect the MAX-IP-Cam, yet my IE browser cannot?
A:
This is because your IE browser settings are not set up to correctly browse the MAX-IP-
Cam. We recommend you turn off the proxy server function.
- To turn off the proxy server function in your IE browser, please use the following
procedure:
Go to: Internet Settings [O] > Connection > Local Network Settings [L] > Choose not
to use proxy for the local network.]
Q:
Can mail be sent if "SD" is not selected?
A:
Yes. Both the "Save in Flash Card" and "Mail Image" functions can be conducted at the
same time.
Q:
If I forget my IP password or address settings, how can I find the IP Camera?
A:
If you've forgotten your IP password or address settings, please hold down the reset
button for five seconds to reset the system to factory default.
Q:
What should I do if mail cannot be sent out from the MAX-IP-Cam?
A:
If the system is unable to send mail from the MAX-IP-Cam for any number of reasons;
the action will automatically be cancelled and not repeated. Check your server settings
are correct with your ISP's helpdesk.
