Densitometer
A densitometer is required to optimize control of colors printed by the InfoPrint Color 100. The InfoPrint
Color 100 uses a Gretag 19C densitometer, provided with the printer, to recommend and execute printer
color station setpoint changes to optimize color density. This function is called semi-automatic density
control. The densitometer measures optical density of printer output. This task can be accomplished either
by using semi-automatic density control function or by manual adjustments to color station controls.
Service Modem
A 7858 or 7852 modem is supplied to enable Product Engineering support personnel to investigate printer
controller problems remotely. The modem is attached only during use by service personnel. If you wish to
permit this enhanced service capability, an analog phone line and a standard power outlet should be
available during service. See "Service Modem" on page 24.
Installation Tools
Installers use a variety of special tools to set up the InfoPrint Color 100. These tools are the property of
IBM.

Customer-Supplied

Vacuum Cleaner
Ensure that the vacuum cleaner used to clean the printer meets the following requirements:
v The vacuum cleaner motor cooling must be separate from the vacuum line. This prevents paper dust,
toner, or developer mix that is drawn through the vacuum from contacting the electrical brushes of the
vacuum cleaner motor. Filtering the vacuum line and allowing the filtered vacuum to cool the motor is
not safe.
v All attachments or tools that are connected to the vacuum cleaner are nonconductive.
v The vacuum cleaner must filter particles 6 microns or smaller.
Stepladder
Use a stepladder for installation and maintenance. The ladder should be approximately 2 m (6 ft) tall.
Because of the dangerous voltages present in the InfoPrint Color 100, IBM recommends a fiberglass
ladder.
Loupe
A loupe must be available for viewing printed documents to perform registration adjustments.
