This section of the Repair Manual describes the camera's calibration procedures.
Care should be taken throughout this calibration procedure never to smudge or soil the
lenses.

F8 Adjustment

1. If applicable, unscrew the cable release from the shutter button.
2. Set the aperture knob to f8.
3. Latch the shutter by pushing the shutter cocking lever upward. (Do not release the shutter
cocking lever yet.)
4. While holding the shutter cocking lever in its upward position, press and hold the shutter button.
5. At this time release the shutter cocking lever.
Note: This action places the aperture plates into their initial f8 calibration setting.
6. Look into the lenses to observe the position of the aperture plates (Figure 3-1)
Note:
• If the aperture plates at this f8 setting form a square opening, f8 setting correct.
• If the aperture plates at this f8 setting do not form a square opening, f8 setting is
incorrect. Proceed to next step to readjust f8 setting.
7. Readjust f8 setting as follows:
• Pull off the aperture knob.
• Rotate the aperture drive gear (clockwise or counterclockwise) until the shutter plates form a
square opening (f8 setting).
• Install the aperture knob making sure its white indicator is aligned with the f8 indicator on the
upper decal cover.
8. Cock and release the shutter cocking lever to restore the camera to normal operation.
