Prepare boiler location — clearances
You must provide openings for combustion and
ventilation air, l
boiler front when the boiler is installed in any space
providing less clearance than the recommended service
clearances shown in Figure 1. These openings must be
located as shown in Figures 1 and 2 to provide proper
air flow around the boiler. Never install the boiler in a
space with clearances less than the minimum clearances
shown in Figure 2. For openings with louvers or grills,
increase the dimensions of the opening so the free area
(after deduction for grills or louvers) will be no less
than required in Figure 2. Failure to comply can result
in a fire hazard or damage to boiler components,
resulting in potential for severe personal injury, death
or substantial property damage and reduced boiler life.
See page 10 for combustion air opening requirements
for spaces larger than the service clearances in Figure 1.
Provide the following clearances:
1. Hot water pipes — at least ½" from combustible
materials.
2. Recommended service clearances — See
spaces providing more clearance than Figure 1, use
pages 10 and 11.
3. Minimum clearances for tight spaces — See
