Starting/Operation Chart Checklist

Before
Starting
Open engine
hatch
Turn battery
switch ON, if
so equipped.
Operate bilge
blowers, if so
equipped.
Open fuel
shutoff valve.
Open sea-
cock, if so
equipped.
Perform all
other checks
specified by
your dealer
and/or boat
builder.

Freezing Temperature Operation

IMPORTANT: If boat is operated during periods of freezing
temperature, precautions must be taken to prevent freezing
damage to power package. Damage caused by freezing IS NOT
covered by MerCruiser Limited Warranty.

OPERATION
After
Starting
Observe all
gauges to
check condi-
tion of engine.
If not normal,
stop engine.
Check for fuel,
oil, water, fluid
and exhaust
leaks, etc.
Check shift
and throttle
control opera-
tion.
Check steer-
ing operation
While
Underway
Observe all
gauges to
monitor engine
condition.
After
Stopping
Shift to Neu-
tral. Turn igni-
tion key OFF.
Turn battery
switch OFF, if
so equipped.
Close fuel
valve.
Close sea-
cock, if so
equipped.
Flush cooling
system if in
saltwater area.
