Poor Performance

Possible Cause
Throttle not fully open.
Damaged / improper propeller.
Excessive bilge water.
Boat overloaded or load
improperly distributed.
Boat bottom fouled or
damaged.
Flame Arrestor dirty.

Excessive Engine Temperature

Possible Cause
Seacock closed.
Drive belt loose or in poor
condition.
Seawater pickups obstructed.
Faulty thermostat.
Oil cooler cores plugged with
foreign material.
Faulty seawater pickup pump.
Seawater discharge restricted
or plugged.
Faulty gauge or sender.
Aerated water supply to water
pick-up.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Remedy
Inspect throttle cable and
linkages for proper operation.
Replace propeller.
Drain and check for cause of
entry.
Reduce load or redistribute
load more evenly.
Clean or repair as necessary.
Clean Flame Arrestor.
Remedy
Open.
Replace or adjust belt.
Remove obstruction.
Replace.
Clean oil cooler.
Repair.
Clean exhaust elbows.
Test with shop gauge.
Place water pick-up in a
non-aerated water supply.
