Fuel Filters

Avoid Fire or Explosion: Be careful when changing fuel filters.
Gasoline is extremely flammable and highly explosive under
certain conditions. Be sure ignition key is OFF. Do not smoke
or allow spark or open flame in area when changing fuel filter.
Wipe up any spilled fuel immediately.

Remove water separating fuel filter (by turning counterclock-
wise) and sealing ring from mounting bracket and discard. Coat
sealing ring on new filter with motor oil. Thread filter clockwise
onto bracket and tighten securely by hand. Do not use a filter
wrench.

Start and run engine ( See Starting, Shifting and Stopping in the
Operation Section of this manual). Check filter connection for
gasoline leaks. If leaks exist, recheck filter installation. lf leaks
continue, stop engine immediately and contact your Authorized
MerCruiser Dealer.
Avoid Fire or Explosion: Make sure no fuel leaks exist before
closing engine hatch.
