If towing is unavailable, use the
following procedure to remove the
actuators and lower the bonnet.
1. Turn off the engine and apply
the parking brake.
2. Remove the 13 mm wrench and
the wire cutters from the storage
bag in the boot.
3. Insert the wrench between the
bonnet and the raised portion of
the bonnet hinge.
Remove the bolt that fastens the
raised portion of the bonnet
hinge to the actuator.
4. With one hand, lift and hold the
rear edge of the bonnet.
If possible, have someone help
you perform this procedure.
5. With your other hand, rotate the
actuator toward the centre of the
engine compartment until the
windscreen side of the actuator
faces the centre of the vehicle.
6. Push the actuator towards the
centre of the vehicle until the
lower portion of the actuator is
no longer locked in place.
The actuator will still be
connected to the vehicle by
wires.
7. Use the wire cutters to cut the
wires as close as possible to the
bottom of the bellows actuator.
8. Remove the actuator from the
engine compartment.
9. Tuck the wires attached to the
vehicle under the hinge to
prevent interference with engine
compartment functions.
WARNING
You or others could be injured
when the bonnet is lowered or
latched.
Be sure to keep fingers and other
body parts away from the edge of
the bonnet and wings.
Seats and Restraints
10. Carefully remove the hand
supporting the bonnet in the up
position. The bonnet struts will
control the bonnet while it
descends.
Do not latch the bonnet until
both actuators are removed.
11. Repeat the previous steps to
remove the second actuator.
12. Place both actuators inside the
boot. Be sure to give them to
your dealer or repair facility.
13. Make sure there are no
obstructions on either side of
the vehicle that could prevent
the bonnet from being securely
latched.
Always latch the right-hand
side of the bonnet first.
