PREFACE

The Panasonic System 850 is a large-scale Matrix Switcher
System allowing control of up to 8 192 video inputs, 1 024
video outputs and 128 system controllers. It consists of
Main CPUs, Card Cages, Functional Boards, System
Controllers, Administration Console and other components.

FEATURES

The System 850 offers many features, the key feature being
its scale. It can support configurations of up to 8 192 video
inputs, 1 024 video outputs and 128 Ethernet system con-
trollers. Moreover, its flexible, scalable and high-density
modular system architecture allows for easy expansion.
The System 850 is controlled and programmed via an
Ethernet or RS-485 port by standard, enhanced or high-
speed CPUs. The standard CPU is designed for systems
having up to 512 inputs and 64 outputs, and the enhanced
CPU for systems having up to 1 024 inputs and 256 out-
puts. The high-speed CPU allows expansion of the system
from 1 024 inputs and 256 outputs to a maximum of 8 192
inputs and 1 024 outputs.
4
The communication standard used is 10Base-T Ethernet,
which ensures system reliability and quick operation
response.
The System 850 is the ideal solution for applications requir-
ing wide area coverage, reliability and system flexibility,
such as hotels, transportation facilities, stadiums, buildings
and so on.
All of the components within this system are controlled via
an Ethernet (10Base-T) network allowing operators to per-
form the following operations.
• Logging in and out
• Switching camera video signals to monitors
• Controlling camera functions such as pan, tilt, zoom
and focus
• Setting and calling camera preset positions
• Activating pre-programmed group presets, tour and
group sequences
• Acknowledging and resetting alarms
