Prepare for Configuration
- The Router-N# prompt appears.
N is the number of the router in the stack.
9. Type configure and press Enter.
- The Router-N (configure)# prompt appears.
10. If the IP interface is not on VLAN 1 then continue to step 11, otherwise skip to step 13.
11. Create the management/routing VLAN by typing set vlan <Vlan-ID> name
<Vlan-name>, replacing <Vlan-ID> by the VLAN number; and <Vlan-name> by the
VLAN name and press Enter.
12. Create an IPinterface name by typing interface <interface name> and pressing
Enter.
- The Router (configure-if:<interface-name>)# prompt appears
13. Assign the IP address and network mask of the IP interface you have created by typing
ip address <ip-address> <netmask> and pressing Enter.
14. Assign the VLANcreated in step 9 to the IP interface by typing ip vlan <Vlan-id> or ip
vlan name <Vlan-name> and pressing Enter.
15. Type exit and press Enter.
- This returns you to the Router (configure)# prompt
16. If the management station is not on the same subnet as the switch proceed to step 17,
otherwise skip to step 18.
17. Configure a default gateway (static route) by typing ip default-gateway
<ip-address> and pressing Enter, replacing <ip address> with the IP address of the
default gateway.
18. Save the configuration changes by typing copy running-config startup-config
and pressing Enter.
Once you have assigned an IP address/interface to the Avaya , you can either configure it using
the Avaya P330 Manager or continue using the CLI.

Establishing a Telnet Connection

Perform the following steps to establish a Telnet connection to the for configuration of Stack or
Router parameters. You can Telnet the Stack Master IP address:
1. Connect your station to the network.
2. Verify that you can communicate with the Avaya by pinging the IP of the Avaya . If there is
no response using ping, check the IP address and default gateway of both the Avaya
P333R and the station.
