Taking self-timer pictures

In Self-Timer mode, the camera locks
automatic exposure and focus and
then takes the picture 10 seconds
later. To use Self-Timer mode:

Secure the camera to a tripod or
set it on a stable surface.

Select Self-Timer
Capture Mode selector.

Frame the subject you want to photograph, then press the
Shutter button all the way down. The Self-Timer light on the
front of the camera as well as the red Viewfinder light on
the back blinks for 10 seconds before the picture is taken.

Recording audio

To record audio with still pictures, you must first turn on Audio
Record in the Setup menu (the camera is shipped with Audio
Record turned off). See "Adjusting camera settings" on
page 49.
To record audio with a picture:

Press the Shutter button half-way down to begin audio
recording (focus and exposure also lock).

Press the Shutter button all the way down to take the picture.

Continue to hold the Shutter button down until you are
finished recording audio (up to 30 seconds or until the
memory card is full).
NOTE
A microphone appears on the Display and blinks
while recording audio.
