Automating Configuration
The FTP server requires a login and password to access the configuration files. The FTP login and pass-
word can be changed from the default values by using the file adtran_info.txt. This is only possible if the
TFTP server address is set using the administrator's Web interface, phone's user interface, or DHCP option
157. Use the following lines to change the FTP login and password values in the adtran_info.txt file:
FtpLogin=admin
FtpPassword=password
Be sure the login and password match in both the file adtran_info.txt and on the FTP
server to ensure connectivity. The default FTP login is admin and the default password is
password.

Configuration Files

A unique configuration file is required for each phone. The MAC address of the phone is used to identify
the appropriate file for downloading. When the phone boots up, it checks the FTP/TFTP server for its
specific configuration file. The file must be stored on the FTP/TFTP server in the following format:
adtran_<mac address>.txt
where <mac address> is the MAC address of the phone that will use the configuration file. All file names
for configuration files must be titled in lowercase letters.
If the phone cannot find its MAC address-based configuration file, it will download the file
adtran_000000000000.txt and use it as the main configuration file.
If multiple phones try to use the same configuration file, the last phone to request the file is
the only one allowed to register with the server. Any phones previously registered using
that configuration file will lose their registration, and will not be able to make calls.
Configuration files can be broken into sections to separate the more commonly modified parameters (such
as line key definitions) from those that don't change very often. The Include parameter can be used to call
another configuration file that contains parameters (such as the proxy server address) that seldom change.
When writing a configuration file, the following restrictions apply:
Each parameter must appear on its own line. A <name> <value> pair is entered for each parameter. The
<name> <value> may be separated by an arbitrary number of spaces or tabs.
Any combination of uppercase or lowercase letters can be used within the configuration file because it
is not case sensitive.
Spaces are not permitted in any of the configuration values unless quotatation marks are used.
Comments may be included in a configuration file by starting the comment line with the # character.
