The following describes the NetBIOS packet filter commands. See the Command Interpreter appendix
for information on the command structure.
Introduction
NetBIOS (Network Basic Input/Output System) are TCP or UDP broadcast packets that enable a
computer to connect to and communicate with a LAN.
For some dial-up services such as PPPoE or PPTP, NetBIOS packets cause unwanted calls.
You can configure NetBIOS filters to do the following :
Allow or disallow the sending of NetBIOS packets from the LAN to the WAN and from the
WAN to the LAN.
Allow or disallow the sending of NetBIOS packets from the LAN to the DMZ and from the
DMZ to the LAN.
Allow or disallow the sending of NetBIOS packets from the WAN to the DMZ and from the
DMZ to the WAN.
Allow or disallow the sending of NetBIOS packets through VPN connections.
Allow or disallow NetBIOS packets to initiate calls.
Display NetBIOS Filter Settings

This command gives a read-only list of the current NetBIOS filter modes for The ZyWALL.

The filter types and their default settings are as follows.
NAME
Between LAN
This field displays whether NetBIOS packets are blocked or forwarded
and WAN
between the LAN and the WAN.
Between LAN
This field displays whether NetBIOS packets are blocked or forwarded
and DMZ
between the LAN and the DMZ.
Between WAN
This field displays whether NetBIOS packets are blocked or forwarded
and DMZ
between the WAN and the DMZ.
IPSec Packets
This field displays whether NetBIOS packets sent through a VPN connection
are blocked or forwarded.
