L The ink film is slack or creased. Tighten it
(see step 5 on page 15).
DIRECTORY FULL
L There is no space to store new entries in
navigator directory. Erase unnecessary
entries (page 32).
FAX IN MEMORY
L The unit has a document in memory. See the
other displayed message instructions to print
out the document.
FAX MEMORY FULL
L The memory is full of received documents
due to a lack of recording paper or a
recording paper jam. Install paper (page 17)
or clear the jammed paper (page 69).
L When performing memory transmission, the
document being stored exceeded the
memory capacity of the unit. Transmit the
entire document manually.
HANG UP HANDSET
L Handset(s) is not hung up. Press {ih} on
the handset(s).
MEMORY FULL
L When making a copy, the document being
stored exceeded the memory capacity of the
unit. Press {STOP} to clear the message.
Divide the document into sections.
MESSAGE FULL
L There is no room left in memory to record
voice messages. Erase unnecessary
messages (page 44, 48).
MODEM ERROR
L There is something wrong with the modem
circuit. Contact our service personnel.
NO FAX REPLY
L The other party's fax machine is busy or has
run out of recording paper. Try again.
PAPER JAMMED
L A recording paper jam occurred. Clear the
jammed paper (page 69).
PLEASE WAIT
L The unit is checking that there is no slack or
crease on the ink film. Wait for a moment
while the check is completed.
POLLING ERROR
L The other party's fax machine does not offer
the polling function. Check with the other
party.
REDIAL TIME OUT
L The other party's fax machine is busy or has
run out of recording paper. Try again.
REMOVE DOCUMENT
L The document is jammed. Remove the
jammed document (page 71).
SEND CANCELLED
L You pressed {C} while the unit was in redial
mode for fax transmission. The redialling was
cancelled.
TRANSMIT ERROR
L A transmission error occurred. Try again.
UNIT OVERHEATED
L The unit is too hot. Let the unit cool down.

If you still have difficulties after following the
instructions in this section, reset the unit.
Disconnect the mains lead and turn off the
handset. Remove the batteries, then re-insert
them. Reconnect the mains lead and turn on the
handset.
9.3.1 General
I cannot make and receive calls.
L The mains lead or telephone line cord is not
connected. Check the connections.
L If you used a splitter to connect the unit,
remove the splitter and connect the unit to the
wall socket directly. If the unit operates
properly, check the splitter.
The unit does not work.
L Disconnect the unit from the telephone line
and connect the line to a known working
