CONNECTING THE DRYERTO HOUSE VENT
RIGIDMETAL TRANSITION DUCT
• Forbest drying performance,a rigid metal transition duct is
recommended.
• Rigidmetal transitions ducts reducethe risk of crushing and
kinking.
UL-LISTED FLEXIBLE METAL (SEMI-RIGID) TRANSITION DUCT
• If rigid metal duct cannot be used,then UL-listedflexible metal
(semi-rigid) ducting can be used(KitWX08X10077).
• Never installflexible metal duct in walls,ceilings,floors or
other enclosedspaces.
• Total length of flexible metal duct shouldnot exceed8 feet
(2.4m).
• Formany applications,installing elbows at both the dryer and
the wall is highly recommended(seeillustrations).Elbows
allowthe applianceto sit closeto the wall without kinking
and or crushing the transition duct, maximizing drying
performance.
• Avoid resting the duct on sharp objects.

• in special installations,it may be necessaryto connect the
dryerto the housevent usinga flexible metal (foil-type)duct.
A UL-listedflexible metal (foil-type)ductmay be used ONLY
in installationswhere rigid metal or flexible metal (semi-rigid)
ducting cannot be usedANDwhere a 4" diameter can be
maintainedthroughout the entire length of the transition
duct.
• in Canadaand the United States,only the flexible metal(foil-
type) ducts that complywith the "Outlinefor ClothesDryer
TransitionDuct Subject2158A"shall be used.
• Never installflexible metal duct in walls,ceilings,floors or

• Forbest drying performance:
1.Slideone end of the duct overthe clothes dryeroutlet pipe.
2.Securethe duct with a clamp.
3.With the dryer in its permanent position,extend the duct to
its full length.Allow 2" of duct to overlap the exhaust pipe.
Cut off and removeexcessduct. Keepthe duct as straight
as possiblefor maximum airflow.
4. Securethe duct to the exhaust pipewith the other clamp.
