Preparations

The following items are required in order to use the e-mail feature. (Required items differ by the
feature.)
Item Description
TCP/IP The TCP/IP
address address for the
machine.
E-mail is
exchanged using
TCP/IP.
Subnet Necessary when
mask the network is
divided into
subnets.
Gateway Necessary when
address multiple networks
are connected by
gateways.
Administrator Set the e-mail
e-mail address address for the
machine
administrator.
Main mail Used as the sender
address address when the
machine is
transmitting e-
mail.
DNS server Required when the
address addresses for a
POP3 server and a
SMTP server are
set with a domain
name format
rather than their
IP addresses.
SMTP server The machine uses
address a SMTP server to
transmit e-mail.
The SMTP server
can also be used
for receiving e-
mail.
