LPR Port is not
displayed on
Available ports.

LPR Port is not

Available ports.
The printer driver
is not installed on
Windows XP
(when LPR,
Port9100 is used).

Verification
Is the printer IP address
obtained from the DHCP
server?
Did you log on as the User or
Administrator of the
Administrator group?
Has Microsoft TCP/IP
Printing been installed on
the Windows NT machine?
Has Printing Services for
Unix been installed on the
Windows 2000 machine?
Was the Internet Protocol
(TCP/IP) installed in
Windows XP?
Solution
For allocated IP address, navigate the control
panel menu screen to 5:Network (and then
to TCP/IP), specify Panel for Setup IP
Address and enter the IP address at IP
Address.

You cannot add the port without the
administrator's right. Log on again.
Click the Start menu, select Settings and
then followed by Control Panel to display the
Control Panel window. Double-click the
Network icon to open the Network dialog box.
Click the Services tab, and then check that
Microsoft TCP/IP Printing is included in
Network Services. If not, click Add, and
select Microsoft TCP/IP Printing. You will
need the Windows NT system CD-ROM for
this.
Click the Start menu, select Settings and
then followed by Network and Dial-up
Connections to display the Network and
Dialup Connections window. Click Optional
Networking Components from the
Advanced menu and check that Printing
Services for Unix is selected in Other
Network File and Print Services.
If it is not selected, click the check box to add
Printing Services for Unix.
Click Control Panel on the Start menu and
select Network Connection, Local Area
Connection, and Property in this order.
When the Property of Local Area Connection
dialog box appears, check whether the
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is selected.
If it is not selected, click the checkbox and
add the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
