90 Tec shift

Tecshift operation

The selec tor lev er need s to be moved in the
appropriate direction only slightly. It then
returns to the centre position. O bserve the
gear / mode ind ic ator in the transm ission
display.
Selecting neutra l
Move the selector lev er toward N.
Automat ic mod e
When the engine is started, Tecshift is in
autom atic mode "A" is show n in the
tra nsmission display.
To engag e 1st gear d epress foot brak e and
move selector lever towa rd s +.
The vehic le will b egin to "c reep " when the
foot brake is released without accelerating.
It is p ossible to start off quickly by releasing
the foot brake and accelerating.
In autom atic mode the transmission shifts
to other g ears automatically dependent on
driving conditions.
Ma nua l mode
Manual gearshifting is possible in manual
mode. I f the vehicle is in automatic m od e,
ma nual m ode ca n be selected by moving
the selector lever towa rd A/M. The current
gear will app ear in the transmission
display.
To engage 1st gea r depress foot brake and
mov e selector lever towards + or - and 1 will
app ear in the transmission display.
Moving selector lev er toward:
+ S hifts to a higher g ear.
- S hifts to a lower gea r.
If the engine speed is too low Tecshift w ill
automatically shift to a lower gea r even in
Manual m od e. This prev ents the engine
from stalling .
If a hig her gear is selected when the
running speed is too low, or a lower gear
when the speed is too high, no shift is
effected. This p revents the engine from
running at too low or too hig h revs.
Gears can be sk ip ped by m ov ing the
selector lever rep eatedly at short intervals.
