The illustra tions show checking and
rep lenishing the oil in the petrol and diesel
engines resp ectively.
To check the level, rem ov e the oil gauge
(dipstic k), wipe it clean and re-insert it a s
far as it will go.
Eng ine oi l level check and topp ing up
The oil level must be c hecked with the
vehic le horizonta l and with the engine
(which must be a t operating temperature)
switched off. Wait ap prox imately 10
minutes before check ing the level to allow
the normal oil accumulation in the engine
to drain bac k into the oil pan.
On F9Q engines the oil gauge is mounted
on the oil filler cap which must be rotated
anti-clock wise to open.
For M9R engines, rotate cap anti-
clockw ise, rem ov e the oil gauge, wipe it
clean and re-insert it a s far as it will go.
