Information regarding design and operation
Pitched roof installation — above roof installation
In above roof systems, the collectors and the roof frame are connected.
At each fixing point, a roof hook or a roof tie penetrates the water-
carrying level below the collector. This requires a completely rain-proof
and safe anchorage. The fixing points and therefore also any possible
defects will no longer be visible post installation. Maintain the minimum
clearances from the roof edge in accordance with DIN 1055.

Above roof installation with rafter anchors

■ This fixing system can be used universally for all standard roof cov-
ers and is designed for wind speeds of up to 150 km/h (94mph) and
the following snow loads:
– Vitosol-F, type SV: up to 4.8 kN/m
– Vitosol-F, type SH and Vitosol-T: up to 2.55 kN/m
For snow loads of up to 2.55 kN/m
mounting rails, while for snow loads of 4.8 kN/m
required. The rails are the same for all snow and wind loads. The
fixing system includes rafter anchors, mounting brackets for instal-
12
lation on sheet steel roofs, mounting rails, clamping brackets, screws
and seals.
■ Two versions of the rafter anchors are available:
– Rafter anchors, low tile, 195 mm high
– Rafter anchors high tile, 235 mm high
■ Observe the maximum distance of 100 mm between the top edge
of the rafters or counter battens and the top edge of the roof tile.
■ For above roof insulation, secure the rafter anchors on site.
For this, the screws must reach at least 120 mm into the load bearing
wood structure to ensure sufficient load bearing capacity.
The rafter anchors are installed on the roof rafters.

Note
During installation, e.g. on sheet steel roofs, the mounting rails are
secured directly onto the mounting brackets with screws. Use on-site
fixing options to secure the brackets, for example for box profiles.
Criteria for selecting the fixing system:
■ Snow load
■ Rafter clearance
■ Roof with or without counter battens (various screw lengths)
