Protecting your Vertu phone

Upon first receiving your Vertu phone, be sure to configure all available
password protections, such as the PIN code and Security code, to prevent
unauthorised use of your Vertu phone and your SIM card by a third party.
PIN code
The PIN (four to eight digit personal identification number) code allows you
to protect your SIM card against unauthorised use.Turn On the PIN code
request option, then you can then change the PIN code to any number you
like. Once this is done, your Vertu phone will display a PIN code entry
prompt, every time you turn on the phone from the next time. Then here, if
the correct PIN code is not entered, you will not be able to use the SIM card
to launch your Vertu phone.
By default, the VERTU Club SIM card's PIN code is configured as 0000.
Contact your service provider for information about the default PIN code, if
you are using other SIM card.
1. Open the fold and press the [End] key until the Home screen appears.
2. Select Menu » Settings » Security » PIN code request » On.
3. When the PIN code input screen appears, enter a four to eight digit PIN
code and select OK.
If this step is taken for the first time for a new VERTU Club SIM card, enter
>
0000 (default PIN code) here, and select OK. (If you have already changed
the PIN code for a SIM card currently in use, enter the relevant PIN code you
have already set.)
Once the settings are complete, a confirmation message will appear, and the
>
PIN code request will be enabled.
4. Next, select Menu » Settings » Security » Access codes » Change
PIN code.
5. Enter the current PIN code and select OK.
6. Enter a new PIN code and select OK.
PIN codes can be any combination of a four- to eight-digit number.
>
40
7. Enter the new PIN code again (for reconfirmation), and then select OK.
A confirmation message appears, and then, the new PIN code is enabled.
>
Once the PIN code has been configured, each time you turn your Vertu
phone on, you will be unable to start up your Vertu phone (with the currently
installed SIM card), unless you enter the PIN code correctly. Three consecutive,
incorrect PIN code entries will lock your SIM card. You will need to contact
your service provider and obtain a PIN unlocking (PUK) code in order to
use your SIM card again. Pay extreme caution when entering your PIN
code. For more information on the PUK code, contact your service provider.
Security code
The Security code is a five to ten digit number (terminal code) that is necessary
when using several important features on your Vertu phone (including deleting
all the entries in your Contacts list or restoring all default settings, etc.).
It can also protect your Vertu phone against unauthorized use, when, for
example, the Security key guard feature (Menu » Settings » Phone »
Security keyguard) is turned On. See "Security keyguard" (page 41) for
more information on this feature.
Your phone may have been shipped with a default code of 12345. If not,
you need to follow the procedure below to create it:
To create Security code (when not preset by default):
1. Open the fold and press the [End] key until the Home screen appears.
2. Select Menu » Settings » Security » Access codes » Create security
code.
3. Enter any five to ten digit code and select OK.
4. Enter the same code again (for reconfirmation), and then select OK.
A confirmation message appears, and then, the Security code is enabled.
