Sending messages

If you are a VERTU Club member, you can use your own original mail address
at a "vertuclub.ne.jp" domain to send an E-mail. Make sure you have inserted
the VERTU Club SIM card in your Vertu phone.
Sending an E-mail
1. Open the fold and press the [End] key until the Home screen appears.
2. At the Home screen, select Menu » Messages » Create message.
If you have not changed the default configuration, you can also quickly launch

an E-mail editor just by pressing the [Selection] key (Left) from the Home
screen (refer to "Shortcuts assigned to the [Selection] keys" on page 30).
3. Enter the e-mail address of the recipient in the To: field.
Directly enter an e-mail address, or you may press the centre [SELECT] key to
>
select an address from Contacts or the message log.
4. Press the [Navigation] key (Down) to move to the subject field, and then
enter the subject.
5. Press the [Navigation] key (Down) to move to the text field, and then
enter the message text.
Press the [ * ] key once or twice to enter symbols or Emoji (pictographs).

6. To attach a file, select Options » Insert.
7. Press the [Send] key or select Options » Send to send the E-mail.
Note:The messaging service, described in this gudie as "E-mail", is
widely known in the world as "MMS". This service may also be available
with a SIM card supplied by a foreign service provider other than VERTU
Club, but if this is the case, note that you cannot use an e-mail address
with the premium "vertuclub.ne.jp" domain. You may also need additional
connection settings if such a non-VERTU Club SIM card is used. For
information on the necessary settings or other service conditions,
contact your service provider or Vertu Customer Service (page 34).

Sending a Text message (SMS)
Your Vertu phone also supports Text messages (also known as SMS), the
most common form of messaging compatible with the widest range of phones
and available in most countries. If you are using a VERTU Club SIM card,
you are limited to 160 alphanumeric characters, or 70 full width Japanese
characters.
To send a Text message, you first need to open an E-mail editor following
Step 1 and Step 2 of the previous section. Then, from the new E-mail
editor, select Options » Change to text msg. to change the message type
from E-mail to Text message.
Note that you may not be able to send a Text message to the users of some
specific SIM cards from other service providers. When the delivery of a Text
message fails, you will see an icon
inner display. Undelivered messages are stored in the Outbox folder under
Menu » Messages.
1. Perform Steps 1 and 2 in "Sending an E-mail" (page 38).
2. On the new E-mail message editor screen, select Options » Change
to text msg..
3. Enter the phone number of the message recipient in the To: field.
Directly enter a phone number, or press the centre [SELECT] key to select a

phone number from Contacts or the message log.
To send a Text message to an international number, first enter a "+" sign, then
>
the country number, the area code (with the first 0 omitted) and then the phone
number. For example, if you would like to send a Text message to a phone
number of the United Kingdom such as 012-XXXX-XXXX, you would enter
+4412XXXXXXXX here. To enter the "+" sign, press the [ * ] key once and
then select "+" from the symbol list that appears.
4. Press the [Navigation] key (Down) once to move to the text field.
5. Enter the message text.
6. Press the [Send] key or select Options » Send to send the message.
Note: While creating an E-mail or SMS message, you can specify
multiple recipients in the To: filed. However, note that the message
may not be delivered to all the specified recipients, if the network
allows the destribution only to a limited number of recipients at a time.
