Getting Optimal
SurroundSound for a
Room
[SPEAKER FORMATION]
Depending on the shape of tile roonL you cannot
install some speakers. For the better surround
sound, Sony recommends that first you decide
the position of the speakers.

Press FUNCTION +/- repeatedly until
"DVD" appears in the front panel
display.
2 Press O DISPLAY while the system is
in stop mode.
The Control Menu display appears on the
TV screen.
3 Press t"/4, to select B [SETUP],
then press @.
The options for [SETUP] appear.

Press t'/4, to select [CUSTOM], then
press @.
The Setup Display appears.
5 Press t'/4, to select [AUDIO SETUP],
then press @.
The options for [AUDIO SETUP] appear.

Press 1,/4, to select [SPEAKER
FORMATION], then press @.
The options for [SPEAKER
FORMATION] appear.

STANDARD
• [NO CENTER]: Select this whea you
install the lront and surround speakers
oldy.
• [NO SURROUND]: Select this when you
install Ille center and front speakers only.
• ]FRONT ONLY]: Selecl this when you
install Ille fi'ont speakers only.
• [ALL FRONT]: Select tlais when you
install all the speakers in front of the
listening posilion.
• [ALL FRONT - NO CENTER]: Select
this when you inslall tl_e front and
surround speakers in front offlae lislening
position.

The setting is made and the con finamtioll
display appears.

Press ÷/÷ to select [YES] or [NO], then
press _.
• [YES]: Continue wilh [AUTO
CALIBRATIONI. Follow the procedure
from Step 7 ol "Calibrating the
Appropriate Settings Automatically"
(page 84).
• [NO]: Exit [SPEAKER FORMATION].
• [n order Io enjoy the surround sound afler you change
Ihe position of the speakers, Sony recommends you
set [SPEAKER FORMATION], and then set [AUTO
CALIBRATION ] (page 84).
• When you change Ihe [CONNECTION] setting in
[SPEAKER SETUP] !page 67), the [SPEAKER
FORMATION] selting returns Io [STANDARD].
