System Board and Support Plate Assembly
Removal
Remove the system board and support plate assembly as follows.
Note
must be removed from the system unit to remove the
network board, processor, CPU fan, PC card bay, CMOS
battery, or LCD panel.
1. Remove the system unit bottom cover (see "Bottom Cover Removal" earlier
in this section).
2. Remove the CD-ROM drive and diskette drive (see "CD-ROM Drive
Removal" and "Diskette Drive Removal" earlier in this section).
3. Remove any PC cards or PC card slot covers that may be installed.

Press the PC card eject button(s) to eject the cards or slot covers.

Remove the cards or slot covers from the system unit.
!
Press in the eject buttons so that they are not in the extended position.
4. Unplug the interface cable from the hard drive (see "Hard Drive Removal"
earlier in this section). It is not necessary to remove the hard drive.
5. Remove seven screws and one standoff securing the system board and
support plate assembly to the system unit chassis.
