energy when you are away from your system for more than 15 minutes. When the
system goes into sleep mode, it automatically saves data and system status and then
shuts off power to all possible components. Waking the system from the sleep mode
brings the system back to where it was prior to going into the sleep mode.
Your PowerMate 2000 Series User's Guide incorrectly describes how to use the power
saving mode. Please use the following information to place the system in the power
saving (sleep) mode and to wake it out of sleep mode.
Placing the System in Sleep Mode
With your system on, press and quickly release the power/sleep button on the front of
the system. The system saves your data and goes into sleep mode (the screen is blank
and the power lamp is amber).
three seconds while putting the system in sleep mode. Doing so might turn off your system and
result in a possible loss of your data.
Waking Up the System
To take the system out of the power-saving sleep mode, press and quickly release the
power/sleep button. The system "wakes up" and returns to where it was prior to going
into the sleep mode.
You can also wake the system by pressing the space bar twice in rapid succession. Note
that you cannot wake the system from the sleep mode by pressing the keyboard's space
bar once or by moving your mouse, as stated in your user's guide.
Note
We recommend using only the power/sleep button to wake the system out of sleep
mode. Press and hold the button for three seconds or less to wake up the system. Using the
power/sleep button for waking up the system ensures proper operation of the power-saving
features.
The power/sleep button is a "smart" switch. It recognizes when the system is in sleep
mode. When the system is in sleep mode, you cannot power off until you press the
power/sleep button again to wake it up from sleep mode. If the system is in sleep mode
and you use the power/sleep button to turn off your system, the system prompts you to
save all data for any opened applications before it shuts down the system.
