Configuring SNMP

The HP EFC server software contains a simple network management protocol (SNMP)
agent component. The HP EFC SNMP agent instruments the objects defined in the Fibre
Channel Management (FCMGMT) MIB Version 3.1 and a small number of objects defined in
MIB II. Through instrumentation of these MIB objects, the agent acts as a translator of
information stored on the HP EFC server and attached directors into a form usable by
SNMP management stations. For complete information on objects defined in MIBs and
steps to download MIB variables, refer to the hp SNMP Support Manual (add hp part
number).
Use the following steps to configure the simple network management protocol (SNMP)
agent that runs on the HP EFC server and implements the Fibre Alliance Management
Information Base (MIB).
You can configure network addresses and community names for up to 12 SNMP trap
recipients, which receive messages through SNMP for specific events that occur on the HP
EFC server.
When configuring SNMP, you can configure just the community names of valid SNMP
management stations. In this case, you do not need to fill in the Trap Recipient column or
the UDP Port Number column.
To configure and enable SNMP traps, use the following steps:
1. From the Configure menu, choose SNMP .
The Configure SNMP dialog box displays (Figure 53).
