USING FIREWORKS CS4
Using Fireworks with other applications
If the graphic was exported from Fireworks, and you saved the original PNG file, you can edit the PNG file in Fireworks
from inside Flash. When you return to Flash, both the PNG file and the graphic in Flash are updated.
In Flash, right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac OS) the graphic file in the Document Library panel.

Select Edit With Fireworks from the pop-up menu.
Note: If Edit with Fireworks does not appear in the pop-up menu, choose Edit With and locate your Fireworks
application.

Click Yes in the Find Source box to locate the original PNG file for your Fireworks graphic, and click Open.
Edit the image, and click Done when finished.

Fireworks exports a new graphic file to Flash and saves the original PNG file.

Working with FreeHand and Illustrator

Vector graphics can be easily shared between Fireworks and vector graphics applications such as Adobe FreeHand®
and Adobe Illustrator®. The appearance of objects may differ between applications, however, because Fireworks does
not share all the same features with all vector graphics applications.
Fireworks supports graphics from FreeHand 7 and later.
Placing FreeHand graphics in Fireworks
Options for importing FreeHand graphics into Fireworks
specify the scale percentage for the imported file.
Scale
specify the width and height of the imported file in pixels, inches, or centimeters.
Width and Height
specify the resolution of the imported file.
Resolution
smoothes imported objects to avoid jagged edges. You can choose this option separately for paths or text.
Anti-Alias
Use the Property inspector to change selected objects to Anti-Alias or Hard Edge.
specifies how multi-page documents are handled when imported:
File Conversion
Imports only the specified page.
Open A Page
Imports all the pages from the document and places each in a separate state.
Open Pages As States
Imports all objects on a single layer.
Ignore Layers
Maintains the layer structure of the imported file.
Remember Layers
Convert Layers to States
imports objects on layers that have been hidden. Otherwise, invisible layers are ignored.
Include Invisible Layers
Include Background Layers
is ignored.
Places each layer of the imported document into a separate state.
Imports objects from the document's background layer. Otherwise, the background layer
