USING FIREWORKS CS4
Using Live Filters
An object, with Inset Emboss, and with Raised Emboss
Click the plus (+) icon next to the Filters label in the Property inspector, and then select an emboss option from the

pop-up menu.
Edit the filter settings.

If you want the original object to appear in the embossed area, select Show Object.
Note: For backward compatibility, in older documents, the Show Object option is deselected for objects that have
Emboss Live Filters applied.
Apply shadows and glows
Choose from a variety of shadows and then specify the shadow's angle to simulate light shining on the object.
Drop Shadow, Inner Shadow, and Glow filters
Filter settings for shadows
The options that are available vary by the type of shadow.
• To set the direction of the shadow, drag the Angle slider.
• To set the distance of the shadow from the object, drag the Distance slider.
• To apply solid color to the shadow, select the Solid Color option.
• To set the shadow color, open the color pop-up menu and set the shadow color.
• To set the percentage of transparency in the shadow, drag the Opacity slider.
• To set the sharpness of the shadow, drag the Softness slider.
• To see a preview of the shadow, click the Preview option.
• To hide the object and display only the shadow, select Knock Out.
Apply a solid shadow
In the Property inspector, click the plus (+) icon next to the Filters label, point to Shadow and Glow, and then click

Solid Shadow.
In the Solid Shadow dialog box, adjust the filter settings.

When you finish, click OK.
