Symptoms
Problems with new copy-protected audio CDs.
Navigation
Display shows "Please insert map CD".
The directions cannot be heard or are very
quiet.
Guidance is not accurate.
Displayed position does not correspond to the
actual vehicle position.
Directions do not correspond to the actual
traffic conditions.
Displayed time is incorrect.
Estimated time of arrival displayed on the
guidance screen is incorrect.
C-IQ
No traffic information is being displayed during
guidance.
No more directions shortly after crossing the
border. Only the direction arrow is appearing in
the guidance screen.
Display shows "Please insert correct CD".

Troubleshooting
Possible cause / remedy
Some copy protection procedures are incompatible with accepted standards for
audio CDs. This is not a fault on the unit.
• See "Notes on audio and MP3 CDs", page 8.
The map CD is required for some functions in navigation mode.
• Insert the C-IQ map CD into the radio CD drive with the label facing
upwards.
• Set the navigation information volume in the setup menu under "Navigation
–> Navi volume".
An inaccuracy of approx. 30 m is within the tolerance limits.
• Please contact an authorised dealer if greater inaccuracies occur repeatedly.
The displayed distance to the turning point is calculated to the centre of the
junction (especially for extended junctions and main road exits).
Bad GPS reception for an extended period (e.g. as a result of poor reception
conditions). The position is corrected automatically as soon as satisfactory GPS
reception resumes.
• If necessary, wait a few minutes.
• Check the GPS reception under "System –> Installation –> Syst. Status".
There should be a minimum of 3 satellites.
It is possible that the car's position as calculated by the navigation system is
not currently correct.
The routing may have been changed and does not correspond with the
information stored on the map CD.
• Adjust the time zone using the "Clock/ Date –> Time zone" option in the
setup menu.
• Check the time zone using the "Clock/ Date –> Time zone" option in the
setup menu.
You have not activated the C-IQ Traffic info.
• Contact C-IQ service to activate Traffic info products.
You are travelling in a country for which you have not activated any products.
• Contact C-IQ Service to activate map data for the required country.
• Check that you have inserted a map CD which contains C-IQ products. Map
CDs without C-IQ will not be accepted by the system.
