Setting up the DV device control

Control your DV device using the program's Control bar.
To set up the DV device control:
1. Connect your DV device using an IEEE-1394 FireWire interface card
then turn it ON. Set it to Play or VCR mode. Refer to your camcorder's
manual for specific instructions.
2. Run Video Capture. Video Editor will detect your device automatically.
3. To check if Video Editor detected your device correctly, click Setup:
Device Control.
4. Click the Current device list in the Device Control dialog box.
5. Select your device. This will vary depending on your hardware (e.g. MS
1394 Device Control).
6. After you have selected your device control, test if you can control your
DV device using the Control bar. If you can't control it, go back to the
Device Control dialog box and select another device.
To capture digital video (DV):
1. Connect your digital capture device (e.g. DV camcorder) to your PC via
the IEEE-1394 FireWire interface card.
2. Turn your device ON and set it to Play or VCR mode.
3. Run Video Capture.
4. Click Setup: Switch Capture Plug-in. In the dialog box select a capture
plug-in to use from the Current capture plug-in list (e.g. Ulead
DirectShow Capture Plug-in).
5. Click Setup: Device Control and set up your device control. (See To
set up the DV device control procedure).
6. Click Capture: Video. In the dialog box, select the capture options you
want then click OK. To select the capture DV type, click Properties.
7. A dialog box will prompt you to start capturing, click OK when you are
ready to capture.
8. Depending on the options you selected in the Capture Video dialog box,
you may need to press [
