Define a transparency for each skin layer in the Skin transparency

not the edits you are performing. For example, a skin transparency of
30% produces a light result as it only allows 30% of the edit to show
through. The higher the value the more of the edit you can see. (Click
the Preview button to test how your changes affect any existing
onionskin layers.)

Painting over frames in Onionskin mode
No Source Video mode
When working on an image, it can often get confusing trying to determine
where the image starts and the edits end. In such cases, you can remove
the image from view by selecting the No Source Video mode. No Source
Video mode removes the image from the edit window and replaces it with
the current background color. This allows you to easily see your edits in
the paint layer only. To view the frame's image, change back to Normal
mode.
