23.3.1 Preparing for the Novell Teaming Installation

Before you install Novell Teaming with eDirectory and GroupWise, you need to gather the
following system and GroupWise information:
The DNS hostname of the server where you plan to install Teaming.
The DNS hostname of the server where the GroupWise Internet Agent is running. The Internet
Agent functions as an SMTP host to exchange e-mail messages between Teaming site users and
GroupWise mailboxes.
The Internet domain name of your company or organization.
A GroupWise username and password for a GroupWise account that represents the Teaming
Site Manager account (by default, username admin, password admin) associated with the
Teaming site. For example, you might plan to create a GroupWise user named TeamingAdmin
for this purpose. This user does not need any administrative rights. It is used as the
administrative e-mail address from which the Teaming site sends messages to GroupWise
mailboxes. It is also used to own the GroupWise resources associated with Teaming folder
where you want Teaming users to be able to post items from GroupWise
NOTE: When you enable LDAP authentication and synchronization, if your eDirectory
Admin User object is within the search scope for Teaming users, the Teaming admin user
becomes synchronized to your eDirectory Admin user. Therefore, it simplifies the situation to
set the password for the Teaming admin user to your eDirectory Admin password.
A GroupWise resource for each Teaming folder where GroupWise users need to be able to post
items by sending e-mail messages. For example, if a sales team has a Discussion folder, you
could create a resource representing the Discussion folder, such as a resource named salesdisc,
for example. Then, when sales people want to post items to the Discussion folder, they can mail
a posting to an e-mail address similar to salesdisc@corporate.net. The message is delivered to
the resource mailbox, where it is picked up by the Teaming SMTP server for posting in the
designated folder on the Teaming site.
