How sound is recorded on a video tape
This VCR records sound onto two different tracks. High-fidelity sound
(usually stereo) is recorded onto the main track (VHS tape) or the standard
(AFM) track (8 mm tape) along with the picture. Monaural sound is
recorded onto the normal audio track along the edge of the tape (VHS tape).

Standard (AFM and video) track: Hi-fi (stereo) sound and video signals
VHS tape
Normal audio track: Standard (monaural)

Main track: Hi-fi sound and video signals
Notes
* To listen to playback sounds in stereo, you must use the LINE-1(TV) or LINE OUT
connections.
* When you play a tape recorded in monaural, the sound is heard in moneure
regardless of the AUDIO MONITOR setting.
e If the AUDIO MONITOR button does not function, check that VHS AUDIO MIX in
the SET UP MENU is set to OFF.
