The parking brake warning comes on on ly af-
ter you have drive n for longer than 3 seconds
and faster than 5 mph (5 km/h).

(CON) illuminates when the parking
brake is set and you switc h on the ignition .

WARNING
Always release the parking brake com-
pletely. A partially engaged brake will
overheat the rear brakes, reduce the ir ef-
fectiveness and cause excess ive wear . This
could lead to brake failure and an accident .
Only after the vehicle has come to com-
plete stop, should you firm ly set the park-
ing brake and move the gearshift lever into
a gear.

The system is activated when the brake peda l
is depressed for a few second s.
After releasing the brake ped a l, the brake
power is held for a
brief moment
t o preven t
the vehicle from rolling back when starting . At
this time, you can easi ly begin to move your
vehicle.

WARNING
- If you did not begin moving immed iate ly
after releasing the brake pedal, under
certa in circumstances, the vehicle would
begin to roll backwa rd . Depress the
brake peda l imm ediate ly or engage the
hand brake.
- Should t he eng ine sta ll, dep ress th e
bra ke peda l immediate ly o r engage the
ha nd brake.
- In o rder to prevent the vehicl e from roll-
ing back unintentionally whe n st arti ng in
st op-and-go tr affic, keep the bra ke ped al
depressed for a few seconds before driv-
ing off.
