PREPARING FOR FIELD LEVEL TESTING: Flip Assembly
5. Tip of Hinge Mechanism should now be accessible (see Figure 7-24).
6. Insert a Torx T6 bit into flip mount at approximately 45
hinge mechanism's square slot. Apply moderate pressure to hold the Torx bit in place (See
Figure 7-25).
NOTE: The front housing can be easily scratched by the Torx driver. Insure placement of the
driver does not come in contact with the front housing.
7. While maintaining pressure to the Torx driver at a 45
forth about 20 degrees from the open position.

driver and the hinge mechanism (See Figure 7-26).
9. Once the hinge mechanism is free, remove it by pulling it straight out.

Flip Assembly

7.20.1 Remove:
Required Tools: T-4 Torx bit, sharp probe or pick.
Preparation: Keypad board is removed.
1. Once the Hinge Mechanism is removed completely, remove the T4 screw holding Hinge
Bushing on Flex side.
2. Push out Hinge Bushing through slot from behind with probe tip (See Figure 7-27).
NOTE: Ensure the Flex Ribbon is not creased or stressed during flip removal.
3. Fold the Flex connector contact flaps enough to feed the connector through the access slot in the
Front Housing.
4. Flip Assembly should now be free of Front Housing (See Figure 7-28).
7.20.2 Install:
Required Tools: T-4 Torx Bit, Hinge Mechanism Remove & Install Tools, Black Stick.
Preparation: New hinge button needed.
NOTE: i930 flip components include a flex connector ribbon which can be easily torn or damaged
if not handled with care. Exercise caution when sliding the flex ribbon through the front
housing slot.
1. Rotate Flex connector to push through opening in Front Housing (See Figure 7-28).
2. Align Flip Assembly into position with Front Housing. Insert Hinge Bushing (See Figure 7-27).
