Back Housing

Required Tools: T-6 Torx bit, Black Stick.
Preparation: Remove battery cover, Antenna and Metal Tube. Open Audio Jack Seal and
7.12.1 Remove:
1. Remove four T-6 screws—one in the metal tube channel (see Figure 7-5).
2. Open up the earphone jack seal. Gently separate the housing halves. Do not bend or crease
SIM slot Flex Ribbon (see Figure 7-6).
NOTE: Do not press on the SD Memory Card holder.
3. Wedge Black Stick under Flex Pad to unseat the SIM slot 20-pin Flex connector.
NOTE: Do not touch flex contacts with fingers or dirty tools.
7.12.2 Install:
1. Check that stray screws and foreign objects are not inside housing halves.
2. Reattach Flex connector carefully w/o creasing or contaminating.
3. Check the board assembly is aligned on the front housing bosses.
4. Carefully bring housing halves together. Check around perimeter of unit for excessive gaps
indicating interference (See Figure 7-7).
5. Insert and torque screws 1.6 to 2.0 in/lbs for new housing and for re-use housing,1.4 to
1.6 in/lbs (see Figure 7-8).
6. Close seals, open and close flip. Check for binding, loose housings.
