The latch mechanism is damaged.
Measure
Check
Position the covers (1) correctly on the mirror and
engage with the latch mechanisms (2).
Version C:
Check the latch mechanisms (1) and (2) of the covers
for damage.
Renew the cover.
Guide in cover (1) on left and right and engage using
latch mechanisms (2) and (3).
